Author: My friend said to apply for disability for him. I can do this but I get child support. Would child support get cut from my X? would disability pay more than what I am getting from child support? Would he get disability for life? LD is learing disability.
From my past experience and depending upon the state in which you live, financial assistance can be available if you show the need for the educational and /or physica//mental assistance. I have taught students whose parents are divorced and one is paying child support however, because of the need of the child and because of the law (No Child Left Behind), financial assistance has been available to this parent however, you must have doctor’s proof up the ying-yang to declare that your child suffers from all of these issues. You must show that the additional money is needed to help him with life skills and be prepared to care for himself in the future. It does take extra money because this is way outside of the regular teaching requirements. Specially trained teachers are needed in addition to smaller classroom size and individual attention. I wish you well in your endeavor.

It depends on the extent of his illness & your income. I would call an attorney about this most attorney’s don’t charge you for the first visit, some will answer over the phone. He would have to be unable to care for himself. There are many reasons why they won’t give you help. My Grandson is ADHD contact SOCIAL SECURITY.gov & find the answers to most of your questions. It won’t cost you anything to find out where your son stands on this illness. Good Luck to him!!!!

First of all, it depends on where you live. Second, you can ask when you apply for it to make sure. Your ex would have to keep paying but the $ may/may not get reduced. Truthfully, I am not sure if he would be eligible. Some states do not pay disability for ADHD or OCD (I had an ex gf who has Anxiety disorders and her family had to fight, and fight, and fight, and fight to get her on disability and didn’t get it while I was with her-not sure now since we moved to different parts of the country after college grad. for career opportunities. It also depends on what exact learning disorder that he has and its severity (not to minimize your son’s conditions in any way, shape, or form). What is his learning disability exactly (the diagnosed LD)?? GOOD LUCK TO BOTH YOU AND YOUR SON AND I HOPE YOUR SON GETS AS MUCH HELP THAT HE BOTH DESERVES AND NEEDS!! DO NOT GIVE UP!! This is wonderful information. My office assistant Jen has been involved in a lengthy battle with the CA school system, which is trying to classify her autistic son as mentally impaired (special needs)benefiting them, by saving money on instructors.
